Its was always a dream for the bike riders to drive Leh - ladakh and it doesnt come true for everyone like me. But still there are scenic routes in our state to enjoy the pleasure of riding.
Few based on my experience are
Few based on my experience are
- ECR (Chennai to Pondicherry route)
- Chennai to Pondicherry or East Coast road (ECR) is one of the best road to drive with a scenic beach on one side and greeneries on other side. With the road extended now, we may miss some of the huge green trees but still a better road to drive with your friends .
- Ofcourse ECR is also projected as road to drive fast , but i would say no since it is very dangerous riding fast in this road.
- It will be a 3 to 4 hr drive to Pondy from Chennai . But choose yourself between Safety vs Speed... your choice?
- Here is my trip post on Pondichery
- Ooty/Nilgris Ghat road:
- Ooty is a hill station , famous for its tea estates, misty climate and curvy ghat roads.
- There are three main ghat roads in ooty
- Coonoor Ghat
- Kothagiri Ghat
- Gudalur Ghat
- Manjur Ghat
- Mysore - Bandipur road
- Masinagudi - Ooty road
- Upper Bhavani and Avilanche
Thankfully i had tried all roads except Upper Bhavani and Avilanche route.
- Munnar Road
- Munnar is an hill station located at Kerela-Tamilnadu border. There are two routes to Munnar
- via Udumalapet - Marayoor- Chinnar
- via Theni - Bodi - BodiMettu - Poombarai - Munnar
- Valparai ghat Road
- Valparai is hill station located near Pollachi and several dams like Aaliyar dam, Sholayar dam, Neerar dam and Chinnakallar dam.
- Pollachi to Valparai road is scenic route and several places are nearby to visit
- Valparai - Vazachal Road:
- This is one of its kind road into the deep forest in less travelled , silent and yet thrilling Forest road connect Athirapally-Vazhachal - Valparai. This road has timings and will be closed in the night
- here is my trip on Vazachal-Valparai trip
- Kodaikanal road
- Thimbam forest road (Sathyamangalam - Hasanur- Chamrajnagar -Mysore)
- This is one of the longest forest route and has a better chance of spotting wildlife in this route.
- Often you can see news stating elephant or cheetah spotting in this road
- since this is the one of the most used road to reach karnataka, you can see more lorries/heavy vehicles travelling in the evenings. so plan accordingly to skip traffic
- I had travelled in this route and unfortunately do not have much pictures to share
- Megamalai Road
- Megamalai is an unexplored hillstation near madurai/Theni and one of the scenic hillstation in tamilnadu unlike ooty of Kodaikanal which is more of a tourist place
- Here is my post on Megamalai Trip
- Kollihills Road
- Kollimalai is a hillstation located in Dindugal District famous for its 70 haripin bend route and Aagaya ganga Falls, Arapaleeswarar temple and flora/fauna of Kollihills
