Siruseri SIPCOT is located at OMR Road after Navalur, which is a SEZ for IT companies(TCS,CTS,Hexaware, Change pond,Syntel.....etc)

Though it is primarily an IT park, i prefer this place for bird watching (during migraotry bird season)

Tourist Attractions:
  • Bird watching(not a famous place)

Note:You have to reach the end of SIPCOT to watch the birds(after syntel/ITM business school). On the edge of Siruseri IT park corners, the Birds live peacefully. But there has been a huge human intervention which results in pollution. will post some pics that will give you an idea of this place.
It is preferred to go on a weekend,so that you will not have any IT crowd

Also requesting not to visit after dark hours considering your security.

Kelambakkam or Mutukkadu backwaters is located in ECR and is easy to access for Birdwatchers.

Tourist Attractions:
  • Muttukadu Boat House
  • Bird watching
  • Kovalam Beach
How to reach:

From Chennai- Take any ECR bus(preferably MTC bus that reaches Kovalam or Mahabalipuram).

For Muttukadu Boat house- Get down at Muttukadu boat house bus stop

For Birdwatching
  • Muttukadu boat house
  • Kelambakkam-Kovalam connecting road
  • Fisherman's cove
Note: Kelambakkam-Kovalam conneting road is my favorite place of all the places in Chennai. Morning and evening time are the best time ,where you will have less vehicles passing through without disturbing the birds

Morning time- you can see fisherman fishing in the backwaters.

Concern: There is a School near Kelambakkam-Kovalam junction . Near by is a dump which is worstly polluted and often i could see kids/people who collect plastic or metal parts in that dump.

Pelicans,Darters, Kingfishers,Open billed Storks are the most commonly seen birds here
