Chennai's wetlands/marsh lands from Pulicat ,Pallikaranai/Sholinganllur & kelmabakkam-Kovalam is home to variety of home land birds and migratory birds.
After several years, with less rain Chennai was lucky enough to welcome the winged visitors beyond the normal season this year (2019).
From February till April before the water gets dried completely it was fascinating moment for birders and Bird photographers to spot the flock of flamingo in Sholinganallur ELCOT
Location: Sholinganallur ELCOT - Enroute Medavakkam after Toll
Unfortunately the ELCOT was built on the same marsh land stretch and gets polluted by the migrants in the name of development as resident buildings/apartments, schools, shops because of the IT infrastruture and people who work in those companies.
Inspite of traffic, noise pollution and light pollution , Flamingos, pelicans, Godwit, Stilt, Stork, Morhen, Swampen, Egret, Kingfisher coexisted in this beautiful piece of land.
Here are some of my pics captured from Feb till April this year.
