The Mamallapuram Dance Festival is held every year during December-January
in Mamallapuram (Mahabalipuram), Tamil Nadu. This dance festival is organized
by Department of Tourism, Govt. of Tamilnadu. Artists across India with
different cultural dance background exhibit their dancing skills every year .It
is a visual treat to your eyes and musical treat for your ears. All together a
mesmerizing event for your artistic mind and soul.
Many Indian classical dances including Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi,
Kathak, Mohiniattam, Odissi and Kathakali etc, are performed in an open air
stage in the Mahablipuram Shore temple.(which was performed near Arjunan’s
Penance in earlier years)
With the colorful dresses, beautiful jewels,stylish mutras and mesmerizing performance dancers
sweep you off your feat.
Foreigners from different countries visited Mahabalipuram to enjoy
the Essence of Indian cultural dances .Most of them were eager to take photos
with the dancers.
Mahabalipuram is a historic town known for the famous rock cut
temple built by Pallavas in 7th century. Shore temple,Arjunan’s
Penance, Light House, Five Rathas, Mahabalipuram Beach are some of the tourist
attractions in Mahabalipuram.
